So we had a friend deliver her baby about 2 1/2 weeks early on Monday night. Emergency c-section. The baby was doing well and was put in the nursery so the mom could recover from the c-section.
Eric and I were very excited for our friends on the birth of their 2nd child. Since she delivered at the same hospital as I did, and it is close to work, I was hoping to be able to go and visit with her and meet Ethan's newest little friend.
She informed me that her baby was having some difficulty breathing and was put in the NICU. Different breathing issues than Ethan had, but still any issue resulting in going to the NICU is never good. This morning, I found out that the baby had to have a breathing tube inserted to assist with breathing.
As a mom, my heart goes out to them, as a mom that had this happen almost a year ago, it definitely stirs up a lot of emotions. I am hoping my friend knows I am there if she wants to talk, unless asked I am not willing to discuss my story with her, as that was the last thing I wanted to hear when Ethan was in the NICU. I know the situation surrounding why their baby is on a breathing tube is different than what Ethan went through. Having to see a friend go through what I basically went through almost a year ago is tough.

Despite what you may think...
So, I know I have really been delinquent in my posts. It is my goal to put up some new pictures of the kids, and fill everyone in on all that is going on by this weekend.
Here is a bit of good news for today...
This morning, I was called into speak with my boss. This isn't all together unusual, but in any case, he always makes me anxious when he "asks to speak to me". Well, apparently today was performance review time. No clue, that was happening this early. Very excited to announce that I have been promoted. This has come a year earlier than was expected. This is very exciting and bitter sweet at the same time.
Now all I need to do, is figure out what I am going to do with my extra vacation time :)

Lots of Catching up to do
Apparently, I have been delinquent in posting. Since my last update, we bought a house and moved. Pictures will be up once we have unpacked and aren't living in chaos.
Loryn is doing exceptionally well in school, and Ethan is crawling, and starting to pull himself up on things. Yikes.
Will post some pictures soon from Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Hanukkah.

A trip to MOSI
Yesterday we decided to take Loryn to MOSI. I wish she had a bit more patience as there were some great exhibits on disasters and weather, the amazing you (about the human body), and an exhibit on drugs. Loryn's favorite part was the play area outside and her least favorite was the tornado experience/hurricane experience. While there we also checked out the butterflies.

Birthday Party at School
The day after Loryn's birthday, I took off of work so I could be there at Loryn's school for snack time. I was able to sit in on circle time before snack time and just had a wonderful time.
Here are some pictures of Loryn at her school. Due to some of the photography rules, I didn't take any pictures of her friends. I will say that one of the little boys looks like a real version of Jimmy Neutron (if you know the Nickelodeon cartoon)

Daddy Daughter Date Night
Last night, Chick-Fil-A hosted their annual Daddy-Daughter Date Night. We thought it would be a great idea for Loryn and Eric to go. We definitely talked up the event to Loryn. She picked out a dress to wear and then we did her hair. Eric dressed up in a suit and it was just so sweet.
From what I heard they had a great time at dinner. Eric bought Loryn chicken nuggets and they played in the play area and had a nice dinner together. Loryn came home with a swag bag. Inside the bag she had stickers (which she put all over Daddy-pink fairy stickers), a cow pez dispenser, a chick-fil-a cow stuffed animal, a coupon for free breakfast and a booklet of activities.
Here are the pictures that I took before the event and the 1 picture Eric took:

Ethan giving "high five"
Today we decided to teach Loryn about the value of money. We gave her and Ethan equal change to deposit into their piggy banks. Loryn counted the change for both her and Ethan and helped Ethan by putting his money away too.
Afterwards, we gave high fives. Here's the video
