Pictures of Loryn at the beach

So here are the much anticipated pictures of Loryn's trip to the beach. I bought her a beach tent, and Loryn didn't want to sit in it unless one of us was with her. Needless to say, I don't fit very well in her baby tent.

This is Loryn's first time putting her feet in the sand. It's a short video because we ran out of memory on the camera.

Ronnie and Aunt Barbara came down to Florida for vacation. Don't let Loryn's frown fool you. She had a good time with Ronnie. Here is Loryn with her sippy cup.

Loryn didn't like the waves hitting her feet. We think it was only because the water was cold. Loryn had a blast kicking in the water with Eric. She spent around 45 minutes in the pool just laughing and kicking.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Right? Loryn got some sunblock in her hair, so I decided to spike it up.

Easter Seals Walk With Me

Loryn and I have decided to get involved with Easter Seals. My company is collecting donations for Easter Seals for Q2. Not only are we raising money, Loryn and I (and hopefully Eric) will be participating in the walk in the middle of May. Below is some information on Easter Seals.

Easter Seals Walk With Me is about putting hope within reach for people with disabilities.

Mosquito Season

Apparently the drought is over and mosquito season is here with a vengeance. This morning Eric and I have been on the phone with probably 10 different people. We have been having a problem with a mosquito infestation around our house, and it just keeps getting worse. Loryn started out with one bite early last week. And Friday night, because the front door kept being opened and closed, she now has close to 20 mosquito bites. She seems to be doing okay. I think she is too young to try to scratch at her arms, but we are now a little concerned about her and ourselves (Eric and I combined have over 30 bites). So I have contacted our county and Code Enforcement, the Health Department, Environmental Health, Epidemia, Public Works and Mosquito Control. Eric called Orkin. Public Works will put a request through Mosquito Control and they will be out in the next 3-5 days. They will assess and treat the area. In the meantime we have been told to buy a small fan for Loryn's room to help circulate the air better (mosquitos can't fly through wind), we are going to buy mosquito plug-ins (suggested by Jeff) and go from there. I am still having a hard time finding baby safe bug spray, if anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.

Beach with the family

Today I took Loryn to the Bradenton Beach to spend some time with Aunt Barbara and Cousin Ronnie while they were in Florida. Loryn had a great time with them. She spent some time sleeping in her stroller outside and just enjoyed the fresh air. We didn't spend too much time in the water. She got her feet wet at the pool and stared out at the ocean a lot. Tomorrow we will set up Loryn's pop up tent and hang out at the beach. So stay tuned for some pictures of the Bradenton Beach fun filled weekend.

Look Mom, I can do it myself

Loryn pushed herself up to sit. There are two videos. The first one is longer, and it is her trying. The second was me scrambling to get the camera to catch her sitting up.

For Eric's birthday Loryn started saying "da". Apparently it is hard to believe me when I said she did it. But she does it all the time now. She is playful and says "daya" when she is happy, and when she is upset it is more like "dadada". On Eric's birthday she started to scoot backwards. We may have it on video, but she had pretty much stopped by the time we got the camera. She is so funny about it though. She pushes up on her arms, lifts her butts and pushes her self backwards.
